Demo Bikes in the Factory
About Alta

Alta Motors, an electric motorcycle company based in San Francisco, was a groundbreaking company in the electric recreational vehicle industry. The company made waves in the dirt bike world and even made history by winning the Geneva Supercross and then becoming the first electric dirt bike to podium in an AMA National event. The bikes were fast, fun, quiet, environmentally friendly, and turned heads wherever. Unfortunately, despite the immense success of the technology, the company folded four months into my Co-Op due to financial issues. Alta technology partially lives on, after select assets were purchased by BRP Inc.

BRP recently showcased their plans for an electric vehicle lineup, likely built around some of the Alta technology!

My Alta Experience

I mainly worked for the Battery and Electronic Systems Manufacturing department, designing and implementing more than 20 fixtures and machine parts. I also managed most 3D print jobs on a Fortus 360MC and assisted in planning for the Gen. 2 factory, including modeling the full layout of the Gen. 1 factory on SolidWorks and evaluating the Automated Guided Vehicle market as a first step to building our own.  Due to the quick turnaround following the business closure, much of my work was unrecoverable. The pictures I managed to obtain are all showcased here.

Despite Alta going out of business part way through my Co-Op I have absolutely no regrets about choosing to Co-Op there. I enjoyed every moment there, learning more than I could have hoped for, while working with some truly incredible people.
